The rules outlined below are those extracted from the overall rules of the  Society and which are relevent on a general basis for the Society’s Competitions. Please refer to the full  rules for futher details.

PRINT COMMENTARIES

Prints will be awarded points out of ten. When more than one print has been entered only the highest mark will be recorded. At the end of each club year, competitors marks in each category will be totalled. The totals will exclude the marks awarded to the two commentaries awared the lowest marks.

 

Prints are to be submitted on the night of the commentary.

 

Prints must be mounted, the maximum size will be 50 X 40 cms.

 

The prints must bear a Society entry label on the back of the print. This will bear the  name of the entrant, title of the print and the date entered.

 

A member may enter up to four prints for each commentary, I.e. Two monochrome and two colour.. If there is a large number of  entries in a section, the President may  request that only one entry per member is permiddable and ask for a second to be withdrawn.

 

The definition of monochrome is a picture produced in different tones of one colour or black and white only.

 

PROJECTED DIGITAL IMAGES PDI

Images may be monochrome or colour. Images can be handed in on CD or emailed at least one week prior to the competition evening. Maximum size should be 1400 X 1050 Jpeg  resolution 72 pix/inch. Portrait format images should be no higher  than 1050 .

 

A member may enter up to two images.

 

TROPHY COMPETITIONS

Images used for trophy competitions must not have been taken earlier than two years befor the beginning of the year in which the competition is being held.

 

For Trophy competitions held during the year members may enter two prints or two DPI .

Wild life will be defined as mammals , birds , reptiles , insects , trees , wildflowers , fungi , lichen taken in their natural habitat. Wild animals in Zoos will be accepted. Specifically excluded are all plants , fungi, and flowers outside their natural environment in greenhouses. Digital adjustment is only accepted in the case of minor adjustment i.e. removing grass from an animals face.

 

The Alex Davies Shield will be awarded to the Member who, at the discretion of the committee, has made the most progress during the club year.

 

All images entered for competitions are done so on the understanding that the work may be retained for use by the Competition Secretary for use by the Society in external competitions and for exhibitions. Copyright of all images will be held solely by the author.

ALL ENTRIES MUST HAVE BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS.

OUTINGS will be defined as events to which all members have been invited and restricted to photographs taken in the current club year only.
